About Forever Marriages

What is FOREVER MARRIAGES all about?

In September 2017, we launched “Forever Marriages” on social media to send a simple message across the world: Marriage is not a game. It is a covenant. It is FOREVER (Matthew 19:6).

GOD planted this mission into Marissa’s heart about one year ago and over time this idea took form of its own. The mission became more defined as we witnessed peers and loved ones go through divorces and also embark on the marital journey. From this, Forever Marriages was born!

Although we live in this world, the bible tells us to not be of the world. Therefore, it is important that we learn God’s way for marriage, apply it and pass it on to the next generation to prayerfully create a healthy cycle of forever marriages. But, one thing we’ve learned so far in our journey is that support from other married couples is vital to long-lasting marriage and fellowship with peer Christian couples reinforces our own marriage.

The mission for Forever Marriages is wrapped around 3 E’s:

Educate | Engage | Encourage

Educate – We strive to educate each other by sharing insights, resources, and experiences to help foster long-lasting and healthy marriages. We have found that whatever season our marriage is currently in, there is another couple that has been through the same season, has overcome it and is enjoying a better and stronger marriage. Knowing this is powerful! (Proverbs 27:17)

Engage – The African proverb emphasizes the importance of a village in child rearing. We believe that marriages need a village to thrive as well. Through local monthly meet-ups, we hope to bring together like-minded people to connect, share and do life together. From these encounters, we pray to build a village of accountability. (Hebrews 10:24-25)

Encourage – Whether we admit it or not, we can all use more prayer. Through our villages, whether physical or virtual, we pray we develop a community where we pray for one another and share tools and life experiences as a means to encourage each other. (1 Thess.2:10)
