Joseph and Marissa are two ordinary college sweethearts on a mission. They met in the science tutoring center at their alma mater, Norfolk State University, in 2009. Eventually, they realized that they were both from Maryland and exchanged numbers before Joseph graduated that May 2009. In August 2009, they went on our first date to Buffalo Wild Wings and instantly connected. A few days later they went on a second date. In October 2009, they made things official and maintained a long distance relationship for almost 2 years. The long distance forced them to become effective communicators and develop a great friendship. Through those years they were reassured that they wanted to spend the rest of our lives together.
After dating for a little more than two years, they got engaged on December 31st, 2011, a pivotal moment in their lives. During their 2.5 year engagement, they dedicated a lot of time to understanding marriage through premarital counseling, books and pursuing a individual relationship with Jesus Christ. They believed God was preparing them for a beautiful lifelong covenant. On May 25, 2014, they finally exchanged vows in front of their closest family and friends and have been building a Christ-centered marriage ever since.
In 2017, they felt led by God to go into ministry together and launch Forever Marriages. Together they have hosted more than 20 meet-ups in the DC, MD, and VA area and have been invited to serve as panelists and speakers throughout the metropolitan area. They are not marriage experts nor coaches, but simply believe they have a message to share.
Joseph and Marissa reside in the DC Metropolitan with their sweet baby girl, Amani. They enjoy travelling, DIY-ing, and serving together.
